5 New Year’s Goals For Photographers
Happy New Year fellow Creatives! As we embark on a new season and a new year of greatness, lets take a few moments to appreciate our journey and what we’ve accomplished thus far! I took a few of my own as well as survyed a few other creatives and here are a couple of New Year Goals that we’ve come up with for photographers, videographers and creatives in 2024!
1: Reconnect with your previous clients and thank them for their love and support during the 2023 campaign!
Continue to build your trust and companionship with clients that you have developed an appreciation and connection with! Those clients will be your helping hand when it comes to your marketing as well as closing on future clients. When I talk to repeat clients, I love to hear “ We’re NEVER going with another photographer, you are our photographer for life!” Columbus Ohio Photographer Amanda Prior Grissinger believes that alongside reconnecting with your repeat clients, its also important to revamp your equipment and utilize and find new locations to bring a new dynamic to your portrait sessions.

2: Network and collab with other creatives in your area.
This is one of my personal favorites. Being that I am a local creative portrait and wedding photographer, I often am looking for new inspiration. Think of some different project ideas, grab a couple of your favorite creatives and have fun and simply create.
This will help you do a couple of things: Learn some new techniques, pick the creative minds of other creatives, and maybe you can drop some useful gems to other creators.

3: Develop your online presence
As creatives, one of the most weight bearing task is organizing and cleaning up your online presence. Trust me, as a person who likes the chaotic disorganized organization, it is VERY important. Your website is your first impression, you have to win your client over on the first couple of clicks. Have a solid SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ). It is extremely important for being discovered on Google by new and future clients.

4: Create a workflow and have a client management system.
If you’re in the business of photography (and even if you’re doing it as a hobby), simplifying and streamlining your workflow is so important!
Time, time and less time is what we have as creatives. Some of us are full time creatives, and most are being creative and shooting projects as a side hustle. For those who have multiple projects per week, weddings, videography, concept development, EDITING, Delivering products, and follow up. It is A lot!
Automation is king in 2024. Client management resources, trustworthy conversion forms, image delivery services, and contract.
We use things like Shootproof, Honeybook, and our personal website to streamline process, answer questions quickly, and complete contracts.
5: Try something new
Embark on a new niche in the creative world. If you are one who shoots family photography, take your camera out one day and try some street photography. If you are a street photographer and you love the grunge, try your hand at some studio photography.
In our various Niche’s there are some concepts that we prefer and feel more comfortable with and that’s why we stick to it. But in 2024, I challenge you to try to work in some unfamiliar spaces and I promise you it’ll help you elevate this year!
